A big shark welcome to our new Director of Operations, Blake Mock! Blake returns to our program as a former swimmer & swim parent and a longtime swim official in the state of Illinois. Blake was the 2015 recipient of the volunteer of the year for Illinois Swimming and is excited to become a part of our one vision for New Trier Aquatics. We are looking forward to upgrading our level of service and communication for our team families and our community by having a dedicated member of our director staff committed to making all aspects of our team run smoothly. We will look to have a welcome party for Blake after the season kicks off!!
Athletes involved in our Age Group Swimming program need to remember to register to reserve your spot for the summer season. We have left it open for registration through Monday, March 26th. $250 will be charged upon registration and is non-refundable. The remaining amount of season fees will be charged April 1. If you have any questions, please let the coaching staff know. Water Polo & Masters registration for new members will be open on April 1st.
All swim team group movement for the summer season has been communicated to athletes by their lead coach as well as is now reflected in the Team Unify system. If you have any questions regarding your athlete’s placement, please let the coaching staff know.
Tentative workout schedules for April and May are now up online. Because the Water Polo season sometimes is in flux due to the competitions the high school teams achieve, the schedule may change. We have made a small adjustment to our schedule presentation – the title of each workout will only be the group, and the time & location of the workouts will be adjusted accordingly. We are hoping this will clear up any confusion in the event of a practice change by simplifying the practice communications.
Masters Swimmers are asked to check out the modified schedule for the next two weeks - we will be a little later in the mornings and a little earlier in the evenings. Coach Alexis will be coaching both evening and morning workouts, so maybe venture into the kingdom of the double workout! Feel free to bring a buddy too!
Don’t forget to sign up for the Banquet on April 14th! Guest Speaker Olympian Kristy Kowal!! Her story is both inspirational and motivational and great for everyone! Oh, and the banquet is FREE for ALL NTA ATHLETES and their families. More information is online.
Hour of Power is also on April 14th! This is one of the greatest team experiences as part of NTA – we have a goal of $22,000 this year and it’s super easy to generate donations online! Athletes who raise $500 by April 14th will get to participate in a special clinic with Kristy on April 15th! If you have any questions, please let the staff know! You will also need to sign up for one of the two sessions for the Hour Of Power & we also are looking for a few volunteers to help with running it/donate snacks – so check that out too!
Also...If you haven't seen it already - Caeleb Dressel went a 17.63 in the 50 free last night at Division 1 NCAAs. 8 strokes down, 11 strokes back. Here's the video and great interview about what makes him hungry - he works all four strokes and keeps challenging himself to be a better man...not just a better swimmer!
