Some of the top swimmers in the LSC came together last weekend for some fast swimming at the NJ Swimming Senior Open Championships at Berkeley Aquatic Center, in New Providence. Our 7 qualifying swimmers faced off against peers from 32 teams; the boys finished 11th and the girls 15th.
The Barracudas 35 splashes yielded 12 Career Best Times, 9 new Team Records, trips to finals, and some top places.
Andrea Carlson made it back to finals for her 100 and 200 Back, finishing 16th and 19th respectively, and scoring 7 points.
Jake Leddy swam Career Best times in all of his events, placing 13th in the 500, 6th in the 1000, and 4th in the 1650 Free. He earned 44 points for NJB. He set new Team Records in the 500 Free with a time of 5:00.62, 1000 Free with a time of 10:20.03, and in the 1650 with a new time of 17:06.02.
Jordan Maruska made it to finals in her 200 Free, finishing 12th for 9 points. She swam Career Best Times in 3 of her 4 events. She also swam new Team Records in the 200 Free with a 1:57.44, the 100 Breast with a 1:12.63, and the 200 Breast with a 2:37.57.
Cassidy Preste qualified for the 100 Breast, making it back to finals and swimming a Career Best in the process.
Jake Riva dominated prelims with his swims in the 100 Back, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 50 Free finishing 3rd, 5th, 5th, and 7th respectively. He scratched from finals to be ready Speedo Sectionals later in the week. His 200 Free set a new team mark with a time of 1:44.75.
Sam Russell also saved it for Sectionals, but not before swimming a Career Best in her 100 Breast during prelims, and came back for a 3rd Place in finals earning 20 points. Her time of 1:06.39 is a new Team Record.
Hannah Soutter swam Career Bests in her 50 and 100 Free, and made it back to finals in her 100 Fly.
