Many families have expressed interest in the FREE “Swimming in College” presentation that Brook Anderson has done for the last couple of years at senior sectionals. He thought he was going to do it again this year but schedules conflicted and he was unable to. I contacted him and he has happily offered to do a web presentation for any of our Montana swim families that are interested. Please pass this information along to any interested families. If any of them have a child that has any interest at all in swimming in college, regardless of the NCAA Division, or they THINK that they might eventually have an interest in swimming in college, I HIGHLY recommend attending. You cannot start the learning and research process early enough. I thought I was fairly knowledgeable about the process but I learned a TREMENDOUS amount from his presentation last year. Brook has an MBA and is a CPA and financial advisor at Kaizen Financial Advisors ( www.kaizenfa.com) whose son now swims for Southern Methodist University and he did an enormous amount of research and data analysis on pretty much every school that offers a swim program. He not only covers the basics of various NCAA and other swim programs and recruiting rules but also numerous aspects that you may not know or understand such as how merit scholarships, athletic scholarships, SAT scores, etc. are all intertwined, how financial support of the team affects the “swim experience” (and which schools provide the most support), how to determine which schools fund scholarships, and how to maximize your ability to receive a swimming scholarship, even at programs other than Division 1. He is also willing to share his analytics database with those who request it (DEFINITELY REQUEST IT!!).
The webinar is scheduled for Saturday morning, April 21, at 9:00 a.m. Mountain Time. It will last 90 minutes and include time for Q&A at the end. If any of your families are interested in attending (remember, it’s FREE), please have them contact him with the following:
- Email Address
He will then send them the web link and log on instructions. Brook can be reached by:
- Email – email@example.com
- Mobile - 206-660-8298
If, by chance, anyone is looking for an excellent financial advisor and firm, then I also highly recommend Brook and the team at Kaizen. Their free monthly financial e-newsletters are very informative as are Brook's periodic emails on various aspects of college swimming and recruiting.
Let me know if you have any questions.
