BSL Completes Another Successful Season with Strong Performances

BSL recently finished the 2017-18 Short Course Championship season with impressive performances across the southeast, competing in the NCSA Junior National Championships in Orlando, FL, as well as the ESSZ Age Group Sectional Championships in Atlanta, GA.

Peyton Osborn (18) led BSL in Orlando competing in the 200 Free, 50 Back, and 100 Back, also completing a new best time in a 200 Back time trial.  Peyton competed with the best 18 & Under swimmers from all over the country, many of which compete for the USA National Junior Team each year.  Despite the fierce competition Peyton raced hard and even improved her seed in the 200 Free by 19 places!

In Atlanta, BSL swimmers Hunter Carroll (12), Wells Ely (12), Carson Muir (12), and Norah Simich (12) competed against the top 11-14 year old swimmers in the Eastern Section of the Southern Zone.  This includes teams from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and West Virginia.

BSL swimmers Carson Muir and Wells Ely each put team points on the board with 2 swims each.  Wells placed 5th in the 1650 Free and 10th in the 500 Free, while Carson was runner-up in the 500 Free and 18th in the 200 Free.

Wells Ely also broke the team record in the 11-12 Boys 1650 Free by over 13 seconds!  This record was 9 years old and previously held by current University of Alabama swimmer Will Freeman.

Congrats to these swimmers and all of the BSL swimmers who represented our team with pride and integrity during the 2017-18 Short Course Season. Now let’s get ready for Long Course Season!  GO BSL!
