Goldfins are ready for the 2018 Speedo Western Championships

The Saskatoon Goldfins have travelled to Victoria, BC to compete in the 2018 Speedo Western Championships.  This competition is being held April 12 – 15, 2018 at Saanich Commonwealth Place.

Goldfins competing in this championship swim meet are: Maclaren Burwell, Caeli Granger, Ashley Nelson, Shanna Tierney, Jayden Bilous, Brayden Hemeon, Ethan Hemeon, Dylan Reiber, and Blake Tierney.  Traveling this week with the Goldfins is Tristan Anderson-Woodworth from the Prince Albert Sharks.

Coach Steven Hitchings says, “We have a good crew assembled that is a good mix of experience and new energy in the first-time qualifiers.  This crew is ready and focused to have fun and to swim fast!”

This meet will host Clubs from across Western Canada, while the Speedo Eastern Championships are being held on this weekend in Windsor, ON.  This long course meet is an opportunity for the Goldfins to compete against swimmers from all over Western Canada leading up to this summer's Junior National Championships.

The meet’s schedule is as follows:

Thursday, April 12, 2018 – Preliminaries - 0900 AM PST & Finals – 6:00 PM PST:

200 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 200 Breaststroke, 4 X 100 Freestyle, 800 Freestyle, & 1500 Freestyle

 

Friday, April 13, 2018 – Preliminaries - 0900 AM PST & Finals – 6:00 PM PST:

100 Freestyle, 50 Backstroke, 100 Breaststroke, 50 Fly, 400 IM, & 4 X 200 Freestyle Relay

 

Saturday, April 14, 2018 – Preliminaries - 0900 AM PST & Finals – 6:00 PM PST:

400 Freestyle, 100 Fly, 50 Breaststroke, 200 Backstroke, 4 X 100 Mixed Medley Relay

 

Sunday, April 15, 2018 – Preliminaries – 0900 AM PST & Finals – 5:00 PM PST:

200 Fly, 50 Freestyle, 200 IM, 1500 Freestyle, & 800 Freestyle
