Great First day at Western Canadian Champs

LASC had a great first day at the Western Canadian Championships in Victoria.  Our swimmers set 3 new LASC records, posted over 75% best times and won 1 individual bronze and 1 relay silver medal.

Chris Alexander reached the podium in the 17 & over boys 100 Back.  He improved by almost a second, posting 58.38 for the bronze medal and new LASC Open club record.  We had an outstanding swim from our boys 4 x 100 Free relay team of Raine Arden, Chris Alexander, Isaac Fletcher and Josh Freund; they crushed the club record by over 2 seconds in their silver medal performance.  This is the second relay silver for LASC in the past three years at Western Championships.

Raine Arden notched his first ever individual club record in the finals of the 200 Free.  His 1:57.12 broke the previous 15-17 record held by former Canadian national team member Kyle Troskot.  Isaac Fletcher and Josh Freund also reached finals placing 10th in the 16 & under 100 Back and 14th in the 17 & over 200 Free respectively.

Makena Wood (200 Breast) and Finley Lothian (100 Back) both raced to best times in their first Western Canadian Championships races in the prelims.
