Important note from Brandon - Coaching changes

Hello Waves Families,

I am sending you this email to share coaching changes that are taking place with the Waves over the next few months.  For the past 10 years, I have had the honor and privilege of being the Senior Head Coach. Coaching at the Senior level is a very rewarding and challenging experience.  I have had the opportunity to coach highly motivated athletes, attend high level meets and help prepare them for their collegiate swimming career. Coaching at this level also involves an intense year-round commitment, including many hours of practice, long weekend meets and time away from family.

My other role with the Waves is being the head coach of the program and making this the best program it can be.  These responsibilities include hiring, staff development, website maintenance, hosting meets, communication, fundraising, pool maintenance, scheduling and evaluating areas of the program that need short-term and long-term attention.  With this in mind, I believe that our club needs to focus its attention on the groups at Wealthy. We have been fortunate to have passionate and professional coaches at Wealthy for the past two years, but the turnover in staff has been too high to allow for the consistent delivery of our program.

In the next few months, I will be transitioning my coaching responsibilities to the Wealthy groups and sharing my experiences/expertise with our youngest swimmers.  I will also continue my duties as the head coach of the Waves. My first experience with the Waves was coaching at Wealthy (and yes, I coached at the “old” Wealthy pool if any of you can remember what that looked like).  I look forward to helping these younger swimmers fall in love with the sport of swimming and believe I can bring experience to those groups knowing what they need to do to reach our Senior level.

With the support of our Board of Directors, we will begin the search for a new Senior Head Coach.  We will keep you informed of our progress and plan to have a Senior Heach Coach no later than the start of the fall/winter season. In the meantime, I will continue as the Senior Head Coach.

Please feel free to contact me with questions.

Go Waves,

Brandon Converse
