2018 Western Zone Age Group Team Information
What is the Western Zone Age Group Championship Meet?
The WZ Age Group Championship is a premier USA Swimming four-day championship swim meet for approximately 700 athletes ages 9-14 from the 14 western states. Athletes compete on one of 17 "all-star" teams from their state or region. Athletes, coaches, officials, team support personnel, families of swimmers, spectators, meet volunteers, zone and national swimming leadership attend a variety of event activities throughout the four day meet.
Sierra Nevada Swimming will select up to 48 athletes to represent our LSC to compete against the other 16 LSCs in the Western Zone - these swimmers are known as The Best in the West! Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity for your swimmer to travel (locally this year!) and compete with the other athletes from other teams who become friends for life.
The link on Swim Connection OME is now available to apply for the 2018 Sierra Nevada Western Zone Team.
There is a $100 deposit that is fully refundable if the swimmer is not selected to the Team. The OME application is just a "registration" process, as there are no forms to sign at this time. Once the roster is announced, parents of swimmers named to the Team will be given a link to fill out online documents and pay the remainder $325 co-pay.
FAQ - If my swimmer does not have a AA time right now, can I stilly apply on OME? YES!! Please note that a swimmer DOES NOT have to have a AA time at time of registration - just needs to have a AA time achieved through 7/22 to BE CONSIDERED for the team. We understand that swimmers are still competing all the way through our LC Champs trying to get those time standards.
All forms and information are available on the Sierra Nevada Swimming Team Unify website under WESTERN ZONE INFO tab that runs across the top front of the home page.
