RE: Open Water Zone Championships, June 14-15 in Pleasant Prairie, WI
Last call for the 2018 Central Zone Open Water Championships; entries are due June 5th via the Team Michigan website.
The Open Water Zone Championships is a first-timer friendly event. There is a clinic on open water race strategies with practice in the water on Thursday afternoon, followed by a pasta dinner and check-in/body marking. The races are on Friday morning, with the event usually finishing by 1pm. Lake Andrea is an awesome venue for the event, typically with good visibility, good water temps, and a few good spots for spectating around the lake.
To qualify, athletes need to have achieved an “A” time in a pool distance race, 400m or longer.
Races include the 10u 1K, 11-12 2k, 13-14 3k, and Open 5k. The top finishers in the Open 5k will receive automatic invitations to attend next year’s Open Water Nationals/Open Water Junior Nationals in May 2019.
To enter, register your account on the Team Michigan website, wait for approval, then enter the event.
