Swim and Dive Update, June 10

Swim and Dive Update, June 10

Summer is here at last and our 2018 season is underway!  I send an email every Sunday to give you a look at what's ahead in the coming week – they'll include RSVP deadline reminders, meet info and directions, fun events to look forward to, etc.  I try my best to put everything in this one weekly email (as the last thing I want to do is spend more time on my laptop than out in the summer sunshine!), but over the last 3 years I've learned that sometimes additional emails just have to go out – either because new info has popped up that the team needs to know about, or because RSVP's are still needed for meets and team events.  All of my team emails can be found in the "news" tab on the team website as well, in case you need to reference them at a later date.

  • Morning practices for all levels of the swim and dive teams begin on Monday, June 11.  Please reference Coach Bevin's email from Friday, June 8 for specific practice groups and times for your child(ren).  Dive practice times are on the team calendar.

  • There will be a Q&A parents meeting on Monday, June 11 at 11:30 under the barn.  I'll be there to answer any questions or clear up anything you're confused about!

  • There was a problem with the Swim-a-Fun/Rooster Picnic event setup in the team website, so please go in to check that your kids are committed or declined!  The RSVP deadline is tomorrow, June 11!

  • All swim meets and dive meets are live and ready for you to commit OR decline!  If you can, just do this for all of the meets at once!  Divers and Varsity swimmers need to commit yes or no to the meets, and the coaches will determine what the kids are swimming each week.  JV swimmers need to select yes or no so the coaches will know if they're attending the meet, then please select 3 preferred events for your swimmer.  The coaches will determine which events your child will swim but will take their preferences into consideration.

  • Parents are required to volunteer at a minimum of 2 dual JV/V meets (championship and inter squad meets are additional volunteer requirements).  The volunteer jobs are also live for sign ups, so please choose a job when committing your child to the meets.

  • Every family has a family folder, which are located in bins on the counter by the guard stand under the barn.  Latex caps and picture order forms are in them (as well as ribbons and medals from the 2017 season for some families!)

  • All swimmers and divers are required to wear a team suit for the SSL meets.  Team suits are available at Toad Hollow in Paoli.  All swimmers are required to wear a Pennypacker cap in meets as well.  Each swimmer is given a latex cap, but if your swimmer prefers a silicone cap they can be purchased for $12.50 from me or Jen.

  • We are still in need of a coordinator for our Senior Night!  This is a special evening for our graduating swimmers and divers...please, please can someone take on this job?!  The Senior Night festivities will be held after the last home Varsity meet on July 11.

  • There is a team Facebook page – Pennypacker Country Club Swim and Dive Team.  This is a closed FB group for current Swim and Dive team members only.  Please join!

  • Coach Lisa will be sending additional info out that is specific to the Dive Team.

Have a great week and please let me know if you have any questions!
