Swimming, the Zone Age Group Championship is a mandatory meet for
all zones and may be found under Section 205.6. Learn more about
the program in this week's Teaching Tuesday.

There are up to 20 volunteer timing slots available for Age Group
State Championship Prelims on Saturday and/or Sunday from
8am-12:30pm. Volunteers will receive a shirt and any volunteer
credit hours, if needed. This is a great opportunity for senior
athletes to volunteer and support the younger swimmers in the LSC!

Zone Team Application Available
Apply Here for the Team Georgia trip to
Midland, TX for the 2018 Southern Zone Age Group Championships.
Age Group athletes for the Age Group Zone Team are chosen
through an application process and point system. To
be considered, interested athletes must submit a Zone Team
Application prior to the start of the meet. There is a
non-refundable $25 application fee for all applicants.
Selection process was amended on August 26, 2017.
The Zone Team will be selected using the following process:
There will be eight (8) swimmers selected for each of the 11-12
girls, 11-12 boys, 13-14 girls and 13-14 boys age groups. There
will also be six (6) disabled athletes selected to the team: three
(3) males and three (3) females.
The swimmers who finish the meet in the highest ranking amongst
those who have applied for the team in the 100 Free, 100 Back, 100
Breast and 100 Fly for each age group will be selected as automatic
qualifiers. In the event of a tie between two or more applicants in
finals for the highest spot in one of those events, the automatic
spot on the Zone Team will be given to the swimmer who had the
fastest time in Prelims. It is possible for multiple
100’s to be won by a single individual. In this case, the 2nd
place individual is not an automatic qualifier but would earn 2nd
place points towards the at-large selection process. After the
normal automatic qualifiers, the remaining spots are scored to 10th
place (11, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1).
The remaining spots for each age group will be determined by
individual scoring based on their ranking among the other
applicants using the final ranking of those swimmers in the meet.
Any swimmer who scratches finals in an event will not be scored in
that event. All events will be scored. The six (6) highest placing
swims will be considered for all eligible athletes (other swims
will be discarded). In the event of a tie, the highest individual
finish in any event shall determine the winner. This process will
be repeated until the tie is broken.
A Hy-tek file of all swimmers attempting to qualify for the Zone
Team must be included with team entries for the Age Group State
Championship. This file must contain the best LCM times for each of
those swimmers from the present long course season.
