It was a stunning conclusion to our short-course season for many of our 12&Unders this weekend at the NJ Swimming 12& Under Silver Bronze Championships at Berkeley Aquatics in New Providence. The swimmers brought their A-Game touching in with 11 First Places, 12 new Gold Times, 71 Personal Best Times, 24 New Team Records, and a few of them extending their season by punching their tickets to JOs in a few weeks.
With swimmers from 10 teams in Region B going head-to-head in this un-scored contest, NJB swimmers took the top spots in several races. In the Silver Division, First Places were swum by Rylee Bambara (200 Free); Marcus Innamorato (200 Free); Jonathan Kern (25 Free); Nathaniel Kern (100 IM, 50 Breast); and Hannah Wilson (50, 500, and 1650 Free). In the Bronze Division, Firsts were earned by Rylee Bambara (100 IM) and Marcus Innamorato (100 & 200 Breast). There were also 19 second and third place finishes swum. The coaches left Sunday night with a box of hardware earned by our crew.
While the data supports what was seen at the meet, it was exciting to watch our swimmers race; they looked GOOD. Nearly 75% of splashes (71 of 106 to be exact) were Personal Bests Times! And many of these were significant drops like Rylee Bambara’s 200 Free (-10.55); Marcus Innamorato’s 100 IM (-20.58), 200 Breast (-25.98), 50 Fly (-13.14), 500 Free (-22.07); Ryan Juckett’s 500 Free (-10.18); Jameson Trout’s 200 Free (-16.66); and Hannah Wilson’s 500 Free (-33.00) just to name a few!
Some of these fast swims resulted in New Gold Times earned by Rylee Bambara (200 Free); Ty Hollar (100 Back); Marcus Innamorato (200 Free, 100 Back); Jonathan Kern (100 Back); Nathaniel Kern (100 IM, 50 Breast); and Hannah Wilson (50 Breast and the 50, 100, 500, and 1650 Free). They will be joining Reese Berg and Erin Magnotta at NJ Swimming’s 14&Under Junior Olympics in March.
Our Record Board will never be the same, with 19 individual team records re-written by Jonathan Kern (25 Free, 25 Breast); Nathaniel Kern (50 & 100 Breast, 100 IM); Ty Hollar (200 IM); Hannah Wilson (50 Free, 100 Free, 500 Free, 1650 Free, 50 Breast, 200 Breast, and 200 IM); and Marcus Innamorato (200 Free, 500 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 200 Breast, 200 IM). New Relay marks were earned by the Boys 10&Under 200 Free Relay (J. Kern, Trout, Hollar, N. Kern); the Boys 10 & Under Medley Relay (J. Kern, N. Kern, Hollar, Trout); the Girls 11-12 200 Free Relay (Wilson, Weinberger, Cornelius, Bates); the Girls 11-12 Medley Relay (Weinberger, Wilson, Cornelius, Calderon); and the Boys 11-12 200 Medley Relay (Weinberger, Juckett, Innamorato, Sabol).
Congratulations to all of our 12 & Unders! Good luck to those moving on to JOs, and a great job for those finishing up for the season- enjoy the rest and hope to see you in April when we start up again.
