Gov Murphy Signs New Executive Order Impacting Youth Sports

Dear NJB swimmers and families,

As you may have already heard (and briefly discussed at last night’s practices), Governor Murphy announced a new Executive Order yesterday detailing further restrictions to curb the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Among other things it included new restrictions on all indoor youth sports requiring them to pause from all activities (practices and competitions) from 12/5/20-1/2/21.

Governor Murphy’s move has already attracted national attention, citing recent statistics (which NJB participated in) and CDC guidelines supporting the safety of indoor swimming. See a  recent article on Fox News and this piece on TV. To date there are no recorded instances of infections in our sport, which is in stark contrast to many other outdoor sports.

We remain committed to following all local, state, and national guidelines with the safety of our kids and staff always as our priority.

As the Executive Order should be published soon and we learn more details, we will follow up with more information by Thursday, if not sooner. We remain in constant touch with several teams, the NJ Swim Safety Alliance, and our LSC representatives.

More to come- until then, be well…
