Gov. Murphy's EO, Season Paused, & Lap Swim

Governor Murphy announced a new executive order earlier this week detailing further restrictions to curb the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Among other things it included new restrictions on all indoor youth sports requiring them to pause from all activities (practices and competitions) from 12/5/20-1/2/21, and for facilities to comply by not allowing such activities to take place.

As a result, and per Executive Order 204, we will be pausing this session (lessons, Pre-team, Swim Team) for an 18-day hiatus effective Saturday, 12/5 through Saturday, 1/2. The session will resume on Sunday 1/3 and be extended thru to Thursday 1/28. Dates and info for the following Session 3 will be forthcoming.

Lap Swim?

As lap swimming is still permitted (with strict guidelines in place), we will be offering the current swim team members from our Junior, Intermediate, and Senior groups the option to attend one or two lap swims per week as a means to stay in shape and remain active during this hiatus. There will be an additional fee to cover the expenses of running this additional program (pending adequate interest). The program is as follows:

  • The pool will be available twice a week on the following dates from 6:00-8:00 pm: December 7, 10, 14, 17, 21, 23, 28, 30. More dates may be added if interest demands.

  • State guidelines dictate that there be only one swimmer per lane, and no more than 10 people in the room. Existing NJB safety guidelines (temp checks, no lockerrooms, masks, etc) will still be in place. There will be a lifeguard and a Safety Ambassador checking folks in; no coaches. Parents of some of our younger swimmers should assess their child's self-suffiency/maturity before determining if this is a good fit for them.

  • Participating swimmers must follow rules and cooperate with staff or risk disciplinary action by the club. All signed waivers, agreements, et al from the beginning of Session 2 will be in full effect.

  • Laminated workout recommendations will be available at the end of each lane.

  • The fee to cover facility and staffing costs for this additional program is $14 per slot. Participants will be invoiced via TeamUnify on 12/7. All lap swims are weather permitting. No refunds.

  • Interested swimmers may sign up for one 25-minute “slot” per week (once-a-week per swimmer to allow more swimmers to participate). Sign-ups will take place 12/4-12/5. Beginning on 12/6, swimmers may go back in and sign up for any additional spots that are open at that time. All spots must be filled by the end of 12/6 for this program to run. Go here to sign up (note: by signing up for a slot you verify that you agree to all of the terms herein).

  • We will post/distribute the final schedule on Monday, 12/7.

On behalf of the coaches and I, we wish you all a Happy and Healthy Holiday season. Here’s to 2021…
