As you know, for many years we have sent a team down to Florida for the ISCA Senior and Age Group National Meets.  After careful consideration, MAKOS has decided to not participate in these meets for the 2021 season.  We feel that making this decision now, instead of waiting until mid-February, helps our swimmers formulate the proper mindset to move into March and their local championship meets.

Our main priority is to keep our swimmers and coaches safe, and unfortunately after speaking with the ISCA staff, it is not clear we will be able to do that.  ISCA has yet to address safety precautions for a meet this size, but still expects participants to sign a release waiver when registering.

In addition, our Coaches feel that the main benefit for traveling to Florida for a national meet is the learning experiences our swimmers gain by traveling, eating, sleeping, and training as a team.  Unfortunately due to the pandemic, this team experience will not be a possibility and the swimmers will not have the same experience as years past.

We know this is disappointing news for our swimmers and families, however we are confident that the championship meets that PVS and/or MAKOS are developing will be excellent alternatives.  Please continue to check our MAKO website as we will be posting and updating these championship meets as more details become available.

Thanks for your continued patience and commitment to the safety of our MAKO family,

MAKO Swimming
