NBAC in the Community
NBAC recognizes that times are not easy, and that the pandemic has caused hardships for not only our team and its members, but for many people across the Baltimore region. In an effort to give back to the community, the team has recently partnered with several charitable organizations to help those in need.
Most recently, NBAC’s Imagination 4 group, in conjunction with the Student Support Network, which helps provide food to families of area high schools, led an MLK Day of Service food donation project. In all, NBAC collected more than 345 food items over a two-day period. Swimmers helped deliver the food on MLK Day and learned where the food would go and how much a single item can help.
At Christmas, the team came together to run a Toy Drive for Highlandtown Elementary/Middle School, a pre-K-8 school in Southeast Baltimore. Led by one of our parents, NBAC was able to bring a little joy to the students’ lives with new toys for the holidays. With NBAC’s help, the school was able to provide 145 gifts to families.
In addition to local efforts, NBAC continues to support the USA Swimming Foundation, which works to make sure every child knows how to swim. Each year, Head Coach Tom Himes challenges all USA Swimming teams to match NBAC’s donation of $5 per swimmer to the Foundation.
