during State Swimming Championship Meet

(OAK RIDGE, Tenn.) Atomic City Aquatic Club (ACAC) is a true community swim team, boasting great swimmers from across Oak Ridge, Knoxville and surrounding areas. During USA Swimming’s short and long course seasons, these swimmers train and compete together as family. But, occasionally they find themselves competing against one another, when their high school teams face off.

Recently, ACAC swimmers represented four different area high schools at the State Swimming Championship Meet – and these swimmers achieved strong results!

  • Oak Ridge High School was represented by three ACAC swimmers: Ella Kendall, Amelia Hodge and Stephen Zhukov. Kendall took 10th place in the 200 Freestyle! Rosalee Wenhame swam for ORHS throughout the season, but due to TISCA rules competed as a homeschool athlete for this meet.
  • Ben Walls swam for Webb School of Knoxville throughout the high school season.
  • Hardin Valley Academy was represented by Egan Rawn, who was part of the 9th place 200 Freestyle Relay and the 15th 400 Freestyle Relay.
  • Farragut High School was represented by four strong ACAC athletes: Abigail King, who took 3rd place in the 100 Butterfly, 8th in the 100 Backstroke and was on the 7th place 200 Medley Relay team and 7th place 400 Freestyle Relay team; Jessica King, who was on the 7th place 400 Freestyle Relay team; Grace LaCharite, who took 6th place in the 500 Freestyle, 15th in the 100 Breaststroke; and was on the 7th place 200 Medley Relay team and 7th place 400 Freestyle Relay team; and Camden Gerchar, who took 14th place in the 500 Freestyle and 16th in the 200 Freestyle.

These swimmers now look forward to kicking off the USA Swimming long course season for ACAC. The first long course meet will take place May 8-9 at the Kingsport Piranhas 2021 Long Course Kickoff.
