MT Swim Announces Spring Award Winners

Montana Swimming is proud to announce the spring LSC award winners. The awards were voted on during the spring Montana Swimming House of Delegates meeting.

The Montana Swimming Male and Female Athletes of the Year are Peter Thompson (Billings Aquatic Club) and Lily Milner (Glacier Aquatic Club). The athlete of the year winners are chosen based their combined top five individual event power point scores over the past year. Peter is coached by Sean Marshall and Lily is coached by Major Robinson.

The Montana Swimming Male and Female Sportspersons of the Year must be a junior or senior in high school. The award considers the athletes competitive success as well as leadership, community involvement, and involvement with heir club and Montana Swimming. The Montana Swimming Male Sportsperson of the Year is O’Shay Birdinground (Billings YMCA Seahawks). The Montana Swimming Female Sportsperson of the Year is Avery Maxwell (Missoula Aquatic Club). O’Shay is coached by Kristen Wyatt and Avery is coached by Jay Friend.

The Montana Swimming Phillips 66 Outstanding Volunteer of the Year recognizes a top volunteer in the state who has served his or her club and the LSC. The award may only be received once. The Montana Swimming Outstanding Volunteer of the Year is Brian Robinson (Missoula YMCA Swim Team). Brian has served as a referee for numerous years officiating age group, YMCA, and high school swimming in Montana and across the western United States.
