GOAL Swimmer Jacob Molacek in Wave 2 Olympic Trials

If you watch the sports segment of the 10:00 PM News tonight on WOWT (Channel 8 on Cox), you should see an interview with GOAL swimmer Jacob Molacek.  (They told us the segment would air on tonight's 10 o'clock news).  Jacob has swum for GOAL since 2010, when he started commuting up to GOAL practices from his home in Lincoln. After what is considered the most successful season in Nebraska high school swimming history (4 gold medals, 4 state records, 1 national h.s. record), Jacob went to Auburn on a swimming scholarship.  After 2 years at Auburn, he returned to Nebraska to start looking other colleges to finish out his career at.  He ended up transferring to North Carolina State University, where he had huge success.  Among other accomplishments, he swam to a 5th place finish at the NCAA Championship meet in the 100 Free (41.5), and also was a part of 3 relay swims that set American records (200 F.R., 400 F.R., and 800 F.R.).

At the Wave 2 Trials that start this Sunday, Jacob will swim the 100 Backstroke (Monday June 14), 100 Freestyle (Wed. June 16), and the 50 Freestyle (Sat. June 19).  Everyone at the meet, please cheer loudly for Jacob to give him extra energy!
