SMOKY MOUNTAIN INVITATIONAL EDITION

June 28, 2021

CCC at MAFD:      Our final home meet of the season is tomorrow June 29th at 6pm.  Please join us as we celebrate our Senior Swimmers Alyssa Benedict, Drake Hatcher, Johanna Riser and JT Offermann.  We will break after event 40 to recognize their accomplishments and the bright futures they have ahead of them. Do not forget to sign up for a volunteer position, preferably before 2pm – several spots are still needed.

Dolphin Merchandise:   2021 Merchandise is available for family orders.  Please use the link below or on our website under the merchandise tab.  Orders will be accepted through July 1st and should be ready by July 14th- just in time for our last two meets as well as city meet.  Remember the Dolphins do receive a small percentage of all purchase.  Your support is greatly appreciated!  https://flyingdolphins2021.itemorder.com/sale

Smoky Mountain Invitational:   SMI is just around the corner.  Please take the time to sign your swimmer up today!  Saturday July 10th is for 11 and older swimmers, and Sunday July 11th is for younger swimmers.  Informational sessions will be held on July 5th and July 6th during evening practices at 7pm, Springbrook Pool.

MAFD has been hosting SMI for 47 years.  It is our primary fundraiser and the reason we are able to keep summer registration costs far below other teams. We do hope your swimmer will join in the fun, but we do expect that all parents assist for a minimum of one shift during the weekend to help make the meet run smooth.  The meet will run in 3 sessions each day.  The majority of volunteer positions are filled by the teams we host, Dolphins volunteer primarily in scoring and in clerk of course.  A helpful tip for new parents: it is often easier to volunteer on Saturday if your swimmer swims on Sunday and vice versa.

Spectator swim: Three to four spectator swim sessions will be offered each day.  Each session can be purchased separately; full day passes can be purchased as well.  Every volunteer will receive a full day pass for spectator swim.

SMI Gear:  SMI is a fun event for all GKAISA teams.  Swimmers look forward to this meet every year.  Teams also look forward to donning the SMI merchandise.  T-shirts and tank tops can be purchased on-line through the following link: https://smiapparel.itemorder.com/sale MAFD receives a portion of all merchandise sales.  The sale is open through July 1st and items will be available for pick up on both SMI days.  Please indicate MAFD in the notations when purchasing your merchandise so it is routed to the correct team.

Friday Night Set Up/SMI Practice and Team Picture:  Join us on Friday July 9th to help set up for the meet.  Rothchild’s installs all our tents, however, tables and chairs in scoring and clerk of course need to be set up on Friday evening.  Cattle guard will also need to be placed in certain areas, to help the pedestrian flow and to secure the slide side of the pool for spectator swim.  Please come prepared to work.  While the parents are working, the Dolphins will take their team picture, so please have them wear their 2021 Dolphin T-shirts.  Team practice will be held after the picture. Please arrive by 5:30.

As always don’t hesitate to ask questions, and do not forget to join us at our SMI Information Sessions on July 5th and 6th.

SMI HERE WE COME!!!!!
