2021 CA/NV Summer Sectional Recap:
Over the past 5 days 8 PST swimmers participated in the 2021 Speedo Summer Sectionals in Roseville, CA. This high quality meet featured some of the best clubs and swimmers from CA and NV, including a lot of collegiate athletes from Stanford and other Universities.
Our swimmers had the meet of their lives. Paige Arnold (15) dropped time in almost all of her events, setting new PST records and just missed out on the 100 Fly final. Josie Oesterer (15) had a phenomenal 200 Backstroke and 200 Freestyle, improving her best times by 10 seconds. Josie was also a superb teammate and leader helping out whenever she could and cheering at every occasion. Thank you, Josie. Kate Aubrecht (17) had a superb 200 Freestyle, dropping a lot of time and on the last day Kate had a fantastic 50 Freestyle, just missing out on finals. Aaron Wu (19) improved his times in the 100 Fly, 100 Free and 50 Free and had two superb relay swims. Brian Wu (19) dropped time in the 100 Free, 100 Back, 100 Freestyle and 50 Freestyle and had two amazing relay swims. Giovanni Wenzler impressed with his 200 Fly, 100 Fly and 100 Free and had a great relay swim in the 400 Medley. Malachi Cohen (17) had the meet of his life and made finals in the 100 Free, 200 Free and 400 Free, he also achieved his first Summer Junior National cut in the 100 Free as a relay lead off swimmer. Simon Lins (16) had the meet of the season, finaled in the 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Free and 50 Free with new Summer Junior National cuts. He came third overall in the 50 Free only being surpassed by two collegiate swimmers from Stanford University.
However, the swim of the meet for me was the 400 Freestyle relay with Malachi, Aaron, Simon and Brian. All the men swam amazing, dropping seconds off their individual times and placing 8th overall, a huge and unbelievable accomplishment for them and PST.
Thank you, Josie, Paige, Kate, Malachi, Simon, Brian, Aaron and Giovanni for being amazing athletes and travel companions! Thank you Kate Arnold for being the best Chaperone ever.

Guidance for practice after travel, alternate swim meets
With decreasing rates of COVID19, frequently changing guidance, and events and gatherings beginning again, we adopted the following guidance for swimmers who plan to travel or engage in larger in person gatherings. Our goal with this guidance is to maintain a safe environment for our swimming cohorts but be fair and not overly burdensome.
For swimmers who are not fully vaccinated:
1. For swimmers who travel (>120 miles, or by air travel anywhere) or engage in large in person events where strict masking and distancing are not both maintained (such as high school or regional swim meets, or large gatherings with eating), we recommend that they not attend swim practice until they have tested negative for COVID 3-5 days after return.
2. For example, if they return home on a Sunday, and they have a test on a Wednesday (day 3 after return), they may return to practice as soon as that test is resulted and is negative.
For swimmers who are fully vaccinated :
No restrictions or need for testing after travel or meets/large gatherings.
Please read his guidance from Alameda County
Fully Vaccinated People:
• Are less likely to get and spread COVID-19 while traveling.
• Should follow CDPH travel guidance. They are not required to test or quarantine before or after travel, unless they have symptoms concerning for COVID-19 disease.
What does it mean to be fully vaccinated?
• You are fully vaccinated two weeks (14 days) after you receive a one-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson)
or the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna). COVID-19 vaccines are available at no
cost to people ages 12 and older in Alameda County. To find the vaccination site nearest you, visit our
