July 30, 2021
Greetings from the Glenwood newsroom.
The 2022 division seedings are set. The backstroke flags, timers’ watches, and party favors are stowed away until next year. We’ve awarded the trophies, delivered the speeches, graduated the Tiger seniors, and danced to the very last song of the very last celebration.
Another season of Glenwood swimming has come to an end.
For those who haven’t quite gotten their fill, there is one final chance to see some very fast swimming. The Montgomery County Swim League All Stars Meet is tomorrow, starting at 8 a.m. at the outdoor pool of the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center.
All the information about this elite meet can be found here, and you can also check out the Coaches’ Update with the names of all the Tigers swimming All-Stars. Only the 16 fastest swimmers in each event will compete. If you blink, you’ll miss these races!
Best of luck to our Glenwood All Stars!
ODDS AND ENDS
Before you move on to your next summer adventure, parents, here’s a punch list for a tidy end to the swim season:
- If you know a rising 15-18 age group swimmer interested in coaching, please encourage them to email [email protected] now.
- If you haven’t already done so, please check your family folders next time you’re at the pool to clear out any remaining goodies from the season.
- If you have made reimbursable purchases for the swim or dive team, please submit your information and upload a copy of your receipt(s) through this GoogleForm ( https://forms.gle/v4pEt2NNuhvMkLUZ6). All reimbursements are due by Friday, August 27th. Please email Traci Vagnucci with any questions.
Before we sign off for the summer, we want to once again applaud all the parents who helped to make this season a success. Remember, we didn’t find out that a normal 2021 season was a go until late May.
Yet we pulled it off, due in large part to you.
So, thanks for grilling and serving the food. Thanks for working the early meets, the late meets, the near and the far meets.
Thanks for helping Tigers decorate t-shirts. Thanks for taking so many great photos. Thanks for announcing the meets. Thanks for carrying and setting up the tents. Thanks for wiring us for sound and light at every event. Thanks for making the tough calls that keep the competition fair. Thanks for all the great Tiger gear and fashions.
We are also grateful to the crew who brought us the crowning event of the season, our awards banquet, with special thanks to Jamie and Dave Donnelly, Lisa and Brian Slattery, Istvan and Laura Pajor, and Kathleen McClellan.
And last, but far from least, thanks to Roland Schrebler, for tirelessly serving the team for eight years as a parent rep. You might think you’re retired, Roland, but we’re confident we’ll be able to spot you in the crowd.
That’s all the news for now. Kick back and relax, Tigers!—Your Team Reps
