We will NOT be hosting dryland for the first month of practice until we get a handle on the Covid surge and give the kids a chance to get back in the swing of after-school practices.  We will send out more information on dryland in the coming weeks.

If your swimmer wears a cap during practice/meets, it MUST be a SCAT logo cap.  We will have caps on deck tonight for the new season.

Regarding practice/team suits – As you know, your swimmer will be receiving a SCAT Team Logo suit in the next 6 weeks.  These suits will be required to wear for all meets (tech suits may be worn for championship meets).  Your swimmer may wear this suit to practice if desired, but it will be your responsibility to replace the suit if it gets worn out before the season ends.  Additional suits can be ordered from the TYR website.  Any competitive suit is ok for practices, it does not have to be a team suit.

We ask that team members wear masks when they arrive on deck and stand in small groups prior to entering the water .  Once swimmers enter the water, of course the masks will come off.

We just want to encourage the best possible practices so that we can minimize exposure in small spaces.

We ask that swimmers arrive at the pool in their suits and leave in their suits to minimize the use of changing in locker rooms.   Sometimes this is not possible and swimmers will have to use the facility, but we will discourage extended use by showering and changing at the facility.

The coaches may or may not be wearing masks while coaching - this decision will be made by each coach individually.

We understand there may be a surge in Covid cases as kids return to school so we want to do the best we can to keep them spaced apart while above the surface of the water.

We will operate with the same standard as last season, that we will notify our families if a swimmer has tested positive.  We ask any swimmer that has tested positive to quarantine for 10 days from the onset of their symptoms or 14 days from known contact exposure.

Thankfully, this was not an issue last year and we felt our families were respectful of the opportunity to be able to have practice, so we will anticipate the same this season.  We will update this policy if necessary.

In the event of lightning, practices will be canceled (by the lifeguards decision) as we do not have guaranteed indoor space available at the Kedron fieldhouse.

Our coaching staff this year includes:

Mike Wardwell (Head Coach/Owner, National Development and National) , [email protected]

Cathy Copeland (Gold and Senior 6pm), [email protected]

Becky Noonan (Bronze and Silver) [email protected]

We would also like to welcome Andy Lynch (Senior 7pm) and CJay James to the staff.  Andy is the father of team member, Jack Lynch, and has offered to help us out the first 7 weeks of the season with High School Prep.  We appreciate him stepping in so boldly to assist the team.   CJay has been hired on staff and will spend the first 7 weeks shadowing our other coaches to get a feel of how SCAT works.  She is a veteran coach herself, but she is expecting a child soon and we hope to break her in gently.  We are excited to bring her on staff.

We will also have 3 returning college swimmers assisting the first two weeks of practice to help with the excitement of the beginning of the season.  You will see Avery McFaddin, Ben Phifer and Michael Tucker helping our coaches out on deck.

Please note we will continue to use the News Section on our website as the main source of team communication.  When you receive an email like this, it will always be listed in the News Section for you to refer back if necessary.

Welcome to SCAT 2021-22 Season
