Hello Swim Families!
We are ready to start our 2021-2022 Swim season! If you are Currently NOT REGISTERED, please do so before Friday. Currently, our registration is a bit lower than I expected. So, we are adjusting the practice times accordingly, until further notice.
Sharks M-F at 4:25-5:55, Saturday 1:00-2:30
Dolphins M-F 4:45-5:45, Saturday 1:00-2:15 (Same amount of time- just 5 days a week instead of 4)
Orcas M-W-F from 5:55-6:55, Saturday 2:30-3:30
We need to make this change because we have fewer kids enrolled than we had planned as well.
Additionally, all swimmers do need to have an ACTIVE membership at the YMCA. The good news, is that starting TOMORROW, the Y is running a special that will completely wave your joining fees, so if you need to sign up- now is a perfect time!
I am planning a bit of new equipment this year.
Orcas will need cap, googles, long swim fins
Dolphins will needs cap, googles, Long swim Fins, swim snorkel, and pull bouy
Sharks will need short fins (like Arena power fins- this is a change), cap, Googles, swim snorkel and pull bouy.
We will go through this equipment at our parent meeting with we will hold on Zoom on the evening of September 19th. More information will be sent out closer to that date.
Our first week, we will start practice on the 7th. We will have practice on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of that week. I have a conference for swim coaches that I will be attending on Friday-Sunday in Indianapolis September 10-12.
Currently, we are still looking for an assistance coach to help out. We may have a few familiar faces pop in and out occasionally as well. If you know anyone that may be interested, please let me know.
Our first Saturday practice is not planned until the second week in October currently. I know that I will have a few conflicts this season and hopefully we can find someone whom can help out when these conflicts occur.
The other conflict that I am working on is October 1-2. My daughter was accepted into a swim camp in Indiana with Lilly King, Cody Miller, Annie Lazor, and Coach Ray Looze. I am hoping to be able to just observe like a fly on the wall (These are all AMAZING breaststrokers - All of them hold multiple olympic medals, and the best breast stroke coach in the US... and that may be an understatement...). And, Brooke can't quite drive herself there yet.
I am looking forward to a GREAT year. We are going to have some chances to race this year and I am so excited about that!
