Call for Interest in Nomination for Board of Directors Election

 

This communication relates to an election for the Michigan Swimming, Inc. Board of Directors. Michigan Swimming, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) domestic not-for-profit corporation in the state of Michigan. All applicable provisions of PA 162 of 1982 (NONPROFIT CORPORATION ACT) and the Michigan Swimming, Inc. Corporate Bylaws are in effect.

Call for Interest in Nomination for Board of Directors Election

 

This communication shall serve as the official call for interested of individuals seeking nomination in the upcoming election for the Michigan Swimming, Inc. Board of Directors.

 

Date of Election
The election for the Michigan Swimming, Inc. Board of Directors will take place on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at the annual meeting of the Michigan Swimming, Inc. House of Delegates.

 

Electors
Pursuant to Article 4.5.1 of the Michigan Swimming, Inc. Corporate Bylaws, it is the duty of the Michigan Swimming, Inc. House of Delegates to elect the below officers of the Michigan Swimming, Inc. Board of Directors.

Only Group Member Representatives, the current members of the Michigan Swimming, Inc. Board of Directors, Non-Athlete At-Large House of Delegates members, Athlete At-Large House of Delegates members, and Committee Chairs & Coordinators of standing committees, all of which must be individual members in good standing, are eligible to vote in business conducted by the Michigan Swimming, Inc. House of Delegates.

 

Officers for Election
  • General Chair (2-year term; January 1, 2022 – December 31, 2023)
  • Vice-Chair of Finance (2-year term; January 1, 2022 – December 31, 2023)
  • Vice-Chair of Age Group Programs (2-year term; January 1, 2022 – December 31, 2023)

 

Eligibility Criteria
Pursuant to Article 6.3 of the Michigan Swimming, Inc. Corporate Bylaws, only individual members of Michigan Swimming, Inc. in good standing shall be eligible to hold office and must maintain their eligibility throughout their term in office.

 

Nomination Process
Individuals interested in being nominated for a position on the Michigan Swimming, Inc. Board of Directors must submit their interest to [email protected] no later than Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 11:59pm Eastern Time.

Individuals submitting a statement of interest shall include the following in their e-mail communication:

  • Full Name
  • Club Affiliation
  • Board of Directors Position for which Nomination is Sought
  • Statement of Experience & Qualifications
  • Reference(s) (optional, but strongly encouraged)
  • Resume/CV (optional, but strongly encouraged)

Only individuals whose interest is received by the above deadline with the above required information will be eligible to be printed on the ballot. Any individual wishing to be considered for a position on the Michigan Swimming, Inc. Board of Directors who submits his or her interest after this time or does not complete the required information listed above must submit his or her nomination from the floor at the annual meeting of the Michigan Swimming, Inc. House of Delegates.

Pursuant to Article 7.4.4(D)(8) and Article 7.4.4(D)(9) of the Michigan Swimming, Inc. Corporate Bylaws, upon close of the nomination period listed above, the Michigan Swimming, Inc. Governance Committee will meet to formally nominate, from the pool of individuals expressing interest, the candidates for each position to be elected. Any individual who does not receive a nomination by the committee remains eligible to submit his or her nomination from the floor at the annual meeting of the Michigan Swimming, Inc. House of Delegates.

The final slate of candidates nominated for each position on the Michigan Swimming, Inc. Board of Directors to be elected at the annual meeting of the Michigan Swimming, Inc. House of Delegates meeting will be published by Friday, September 24, 2021 at 11:59pm Eastern Time.
