September 13, 2021
Welcome to the 2021-2022
season that kicks off this week with most of our programs returning
to practices. The new Wave program and Splash program will
start the week of October 4th.
We are grateful this season to have Ray Twinney Complex pool and St. Andrew’s College pool available to us after a long hiatus.
The staff know there are many with questions about protocols and procedures when it comes to all our facilities.
Please know that our facility partners are trying to navigate the re-opening of their facilities with little guidance to work from between now and September 22nd when the Provincial Vaccine Passport system takes effect. The uncertainty of our facility partners is the uncertainty that trickles down to our staff and obviously to our membership.
The club will operate with the following best practices
- Masks must be worm at all times when indoors at our pools
- When at all possible we ask that swimmers come “beach ready” in their suits to practice
- As per club policy changerooms will be available before and after practices (with showers available too) for swimmers who have provided proof of their vaccinated status
- As per club policy unvaccinated/not yet eligible to be vaccinated swimmers will not have access to gender specific changerooms but may have access to stalls in a family changeroom if there is a family changeroom at that facility
We have been told by the
Town to Newmarket to expect that the viewing gallery at Magna and
Ray Twinney should re-open for parents on September
22nd. We are working to find answers for viewing
access at St. Andrew’s College but that is uncertain at this
Starting September 22nd all our facilities should have an attendant at facility entrances that will be checking for confirmation of vaccination per the Provincial Vaccine Passport system.
In general, there will be a few challenges for the first part of the season as facilities work through their re-opening and expansion of facility availability. We ask for your patience and we ask for understanding that many of us are trying to figure out this rapidly evolving new normal.
We are excited to be back together, we are excited for a training schedule that looks more like a normal season, and we are excited for a season that is poised to bring back actual racing opportunities that we have missed so much since March 2020.
If you have any questions we will do our best to answer them. Please contact Team Manager Danica Garbett [email protected].
