How should my swimmer select events for a meet?
ALL swimmers are welcome to discuss their event selections with their coaches. Feel free to encourage your swimmer to print out the events for each meet, show it to their coach, and have a discussion about the best game plan for the swim season!
For our older swimmers, please keep in mind that there are specific events they must complete by the end of the swim year. These are:
JUNIOR BLUE – All 50s and 100s, 200 IM and 200 Free
JUNIOR GOLD – All 50s, 100s, 200 Free, 200 IM and 500 free
SENIOR PREP – All 100s and 200s in every stroke, 500 free, 1000 free, and 400IM
Here are some other things you should consider when selecting events:
- If your swimmer has already made a Junior Olympic, Jr Champs, or National Age Group cut for an event, they should ONLY swim that event at championship meets such as Swim & Rock, the December Championship Meets, and/or the Qualifier meet.
- It is recommended that a swimmer does not swim in the same events in back to back meets.
- Technical suits can be worn at the following meets: Swim & Rock, December Championship Meets, Junior Olympics, Jr Champs, and National Age Group Meets. If your swimmer wants to wear a technical suit for any other meet, they must receive approval from their Coach .
Again, if you have any questions about event selection, please have your swimmer speak with their Coach before the meet deadline.
