We would like to start our meet season out with a big thanks to all who attended the first competition at Georgia Tech. The coaches were thrilled to see the turnout of swimmers AND all the parents in the stands! It feels like life is coming back =
It is almost impossible to list all swimmers with 100 % Best times as it is the first meet of the season. Following this meet, we will continue to recognize swimmers that achieved 100 % Best Times, a Team Record or a State / Championship meet qualifying time.
That said, Coach Becky also wanted to highlight that all Bronze and Silver swimmers made it to EVERY event on time with no missed races. Congratulations!
Although we saw just a few DQ’s (disqualifications) we are excited to see the progress of the younger, newer swimmers. If your swimmer did get disqualified, don’t lose heart, these are just teachable moments and the coaches will continue to work with your athletes on these strokes. Year round swimming standards are vastly different than summer league so we know this is the task ahead.
The coaches also commented we will work to bring back the team cheer! We understand social distancing is still important so the kids will just have to cheer louder. We think Jimmy Callahan will be a great team member to encourage the rest of the team. Thanks Jimmy!
