Recovery is a topic that we write about every couple of months because it is important and valuable to develop a recovery routine. Stretching, foam rolling, and ice baths are all common forms of recovery for athletes, but there are many other ways to ensure that you get the most out of your time away from the pool.
Here are some ways to ensure that your body is able to recover after a workout:
- Drink enough water
- Get 8 hours of sleep
- Eat at least 30 minutes prior to your workout
- Foam roll
- Cool/warm down after each workout
- Get a massage
- Take naps
- Take an ice bath
