Performance Group- the first 6 weeks

Goulbourn SeaHawks 2021-2021

Performance Group- The First 6 weeks!

Ingredients

  • 16 dedicated student- athletes

  • Amazing coaches- headed by our fearless leader: Coach Luis

  • Supportive (and sleep deprived) parents

  • Practices/ week= 9

  • 4 early morning & 5 aftrenoon practices

  • 15 hrs/ week of intense training

Preparation

  • The Performance Group has been training since the end of June (when outdoor pools opened) and continued non stop throughout the summer (pool & dryland). They took one day vacation (1 Sept) then right into  the 2021-2022 season!

  • Coach Luis has pushed them hard! Performance swimmers  are ‘all in’ and have overcome challenges by supporting one another and connecting in the intense training environment. Each swimmer has contributed to the training group’s success and passion.

  • Performance swimmers have gone through progressive test sets to evaluate their progression: https://www.teamunify.com/SubTabGeneric.jsp?team=cangsh&_stabid_=212748

  • Swimmers have learned about hydration, nutrition, body mechanics, the need for proper sleep, rest & recovery and time management to balance swimming with studies.

Racing

  • Their first competition was Dual at the Pool on Oct 2 at RRC pool- (vs OYO swim club).

Being able to add a little fun has helped to bond this group that trains hard and plays hard. Recently the Performance Group spent a fun and spooky night at Saunders Farm for their epic Fright Night.
