Trick or Treat meet

It was a fun and fast paced meet last Sunday in Moscow at the annual Trick or Treat Invite! Our 36 kids swam hard and earned second place as a team. Kudos to Ava Capaul, Jakobi Jameson, Michaela Richards, and Liv Tyslau on completing their first competition! All 4 ladies did a great job racing and had smiles on their faces the whole day.

Next, a special shoutout to Tillie Sobek, Owen Bennett, and Lauren Stephens for the cheering on of their teammates and for helping with the younger and newer swimmers. Great job to you all on exemplifying being great teammates!

CAST had one team record that went down, as Maggie Sobek shaved 3 seconds off the 9-10 girls 500 freestyle record. Bostyn Shoemaker dominated the 11 and under girls, winning all 5 of her races, highlighted by a blazing fast 28.4 50 freestyle. Trace Bennett had 3 firsts and a second place for the 11 and under boys, and was not far off the boys’ 9-10 500 freestyle record himself! Nina Emry returned from a long competition hiatus and showed she’s still got it, nabbing three firsts and a pair of second places. Camryn Schmidt took home three first places for the 12 and over girls paced by a dominant win in the 200 freestyle. Our final event winner was Tillie Sobek, who just got the touch-out to win the 50 fly.

Eli Shaw continues his 6 month tear of best times, with superb 50 and 100 butterflies and in his first ever 200 yard IM a whopping 2:32! Adeline Downing showed how much she loves to race in her 5 events, and placed an impressive 4th in 11 and under girls 50 back, despite racing kids 3 years older than her! Lauren Stephens earned a pair of second places, one in a hard fought 500 free and a surprise runner-up finish in the 100 breast! Harris Crow showed off great focus and time drops in all four of his races, but particularly in the 5 seconds he shaved off his 50 breaststroke. Taylor Young knocked out 4 best times, capped by a terrific 3:00 in her inaugural  200 IM, and Erin Griffith knocked out an excellent 30.7 in her 50 backstroke to capture 2nd place along with 3 other best times.
