Velocity December Home Meet

We are excited to be hosting our first home meet of the season on Dec 4th and 5th. Our Coaches, the board of directors and our volunteer coordinators have preparations well underway for the meet.  Did you know that hosting a 2-day home meet requires over 400 volunteer hours?  Velocity needs your help to run a successful meet!  Please go to our event page in team unify Volunteer Sign-up, click on "job sign-up" and consider signing-up for a volunteer slot.

New to being a competitive swim parent? Don't worry about signing up for something you've never done before, we train our volunteers on the day of the meet and try to pair you up with an experienced swim parent. Volunteering your time is a great way to support Velocity, meet other parents on the team and be a part of the action on meet day!

We are in immediate need of someone to volunteer for the co-meet director position.  We are looking for an experienced swim parent that understands how a meet operates and is willing to be the point person on the day of the meet for questions and logistics as well as helping Coach Carl with meet logistics prep leading up to the day of the meet day. Coach Carl needs the name of our co-meet director ASAP so that he can register our meet with MN Swim. If you are interested in the co-meet director position, please reach out to Coach Carl.

Special Opportunity: Coaches, Club Leaders, Officials and Parents

Did you know that athletes are about 3x more likely to develop an eating disorder than non-athletes? With societal pressure, strength and endurance-based activities, and an environment where being lean is encouraged, it’s no wonder why!

The Safe Sport and DE&I Committees of MN Swimming has partnered with WIthAll to offer a free, virtual training session focused on creating a healthy body image for athletes and creating a lifelong balanced relationship with food.

After attending this session, you'll feel prepared to play a role in creating a world where fewer kids have eating disorders, there are lower incidences of anxiety, depression, unhealthy excess weight, and so much more. You'll also get access to ongoing support and resources specifically tailored towards adults just like you.

This virtual training will be held on Wednesday, November 17th at 12pm. It will last approximately 1 hour with additional time for questions if needed. To register for this free event, you can follow this link.

This training is open to coaches, club leaders, officials and other members of MN Swimming. For more information or questions on the training, please email Anne Knapp, Safe Sport Committee Chair.

For more information about WithAll, please check out their website.
