Welcome Our New Head Coach

Dear CSSC Parents & Swimmers,

With great happiness and excitement we would like to announce that we have just hired Kevin Blum to be the next Head Coach for CSSC. We welcome Coach Blum into our CSSC family and we are thrilled and honored that he will be leading our team.

Kevin swam at Cal State Northridge and founded the Rattler Swim Club in 2001, just over the hill in Porter Ranch. Over the next 11 years, the team grew from 1 swimmer to 160 and earned USA club excellence Silver Medal status.

Kevin moved on to coach in a few different spots including in Australia and for the Marlins of Raleigh. In Raleigh, he helped the team earn Gold Medal status, ranking #2 in the USA.

Most recently Kevin coached at Boston College, where he also co-led the post-grad group with an athlete placing 29th in the men’s 200 FR at the Tokyo Olympics.

Kevin has been named as a USA National team/National Junior Team coach 5 times and was on the coaching staff for Team USA at the 2013 World University Games in Russia. He has coached athletes to the 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020 US Olympic Trials and has been on the pool deck at a National and Junior National Championship Meet 15 times.

As you can see Coach Blum’s experience is impressive. Thank you for all of your patience and support during this process, we truly believe our team has such a bright future ahead. Leaders are by definition change makers...and we welcome the changes to come for our swimmers and our club with Coach Blum lighting our way.

Kevin is eager to join us on the pool deck starting Monday, October 25th. I hope you will join us in welcoming him into our CSSC family!
