Great Weekend of Swimming for LAC

What a great weekend of swimming we had at LAC! Thank you all parents who braved the cold and wind in order to support your children this weekend.

At the SRVA meet we had about 70 athletes. This was a good educational experience for our swimmers as it was a dual sided event and there was some confusion for athletes and parents who had never experienced this set up before. We had some great swims, including double digit time drops from: Johana Ahner, Dylan Amador, Gabe Benitez, Margo Blair, Lisa Bremer, Evie Brown, Rayan Chatterjee, Ria Chatterjee, Pheobe Conrad, Olivia Deselms, Jack Herscu, Henry Johannsen, Nicolina Johannsen, Katherine Kamena, Abhinav Kashyab, Ryan Kim, Levi Lopes, Kam Mahrous-Bennett, Ewan McCrea, Liam McCrea, Ryen McCrea,  Coraline Moody, Charlie Mueller, Caelum Pembleton, Tara Pembleton, Francesca Romagna, Owen Santos, Scarlet Sayo, Lucy Schellenberg, Jack Schwabenland, Ojasvi Sharma, Liliana Sison, Anna Staats, Narun Thangavel, Ryan Thompson, and Yury Ukolov. Many other LAC athletes who attended the meet also got best times.

Some of these athletes dropped as much as 50 seconds in a race that they had first competed in at our meet in October!

At the SCSC Senior 2 meet, we also had some great swims! Lilli Chau, Cassie Clark, Josie Clark, Jack Davis, Savannah Evans, Roxy Frank, Marcu Holunga, Saveta Holunga, Faye Jensen, Minh-nha Kawamura, Eva Kaye, Gabby Kleman, Ryan Martinez, Tyler Ortiz, Maggie Robinson Ethan Santiago, Sebastian Santiago, and Waseem Zeid all got best times.

Cassie, Josie, Saveta, Eva, Gabby, Ryan, Tyler, Sebastian and Waseem are all within 5% of the Sectional time standard in at least one event. Some are less than a second from the standard. Way to go SCSC Senior meet attendees!

Finally, at the USA Junior Nationals West in Austin Texas, we placed 34th in the combined scoring, our highest finish ever. Abby Herscu, Jacques Grove and Jack Hendrick all made finals (top 24). Jacques and Jack each had 100% best times and secured new Summer Junior National Cuts. Abby was 15th place in the 200 breast and 17th place in the 100 breast. Jack was 15th place in the 1650 free and 20th place in the 500 free. Jacques was 17th place in the 200 fly. He also swim a 200 back in time trials that would have placed him 15th at the meet.

Great job LAC National Team!

We have made some huge progress this season! Let's keep it moving as we head into our break and let's make 2022 the best season for LAC Swimming ever!

Thanks parents for the great support you show your children and LAC!
