The LCN Boys had there first swim meet of the season tonight at the Anchor Bay Aquatic Center. Although the team lost the meet by a score of 119 to 57, Nick and I witnessed several things that we are excited about this season. The primary item was the improvement in technique. The second item was having swimmers qualify for the Macomb County Meet and the final item was swimmers posting best times.
Although not many swimmers attained best times this evening, I would like to recognize those who have. The following swimmers attained their best times this evening in the following events: 200 Free - Jason Stec, 50 Free - Andrew Lowe & Kyle Schmitz, 1 Meter Diving - Andrew Martin, 100 Fly - Zach Schmitz, 100 Free - Christian Talampas, 100 Back - Kyle Schmitz & 100 Breast - Christian Talampas.
The following swimmers qualified for the Macomb County Championship Meet: Christian Talampas, Kyle Schmitz & Jack Gurecki.
I had mentioned that I was most impressed by the improvement in technique. The reason I mentioned this is because I noticed stoke counts decreasing and the efficiency in strokes increased. These are great signs. It shows the swimmers are working to become faster.
I do want to emphasize that this practice needs to continue. Swimmers need to continue to work on improving their technique and they also need to continue to be at practice 100% of the time so not only can they continue to improve technique but also improve their endurance. Every time a swimmer comes to practice late, leaves practice early or does not come to practice affects their training. I know every swimmer has goals for the season and us coaches have goals for every swimmer and we will do our best to help each swimmer attain their goals as long as they are at practice 100% of the time.
If any swimmer is going on vacation over Christmas break, please let Coach Mike know ASAP.
