Important Safe Sport Changes Effective January 1, 2022

Happy Holidays!

I just want to share a couple of important bits of information with you that will be happening on Jan. 1, 2022.

I would assume that you have all heard that having a listed Meet Marshall/Safety Marshall (they are basically the same person now) listed on your sanction sheets to hold a meet will be required by USA Swimming or else the times WILL NOT COUNT.  That person will need to be a registered member, with a background check.  There is not a specific line for this right now, but that will be coming soon.  ANYONE that you designate must be listed and meet the requirements.  PLEASE make sure that you all are aware of this.  Pass this information on to anyone that is running your meet, helping run your meet or just anyone that you feel needs to be aware of this new rule within the club.

I will be attending more virtual training here soon, so I will pass on any more pertinent information.

Next I would like to make sure that you all have the new number for U.S. Center for Safe Sport 833-5US-SAFE(587-7233).  Please please make sure that this is easy to find on your website.

I will be looking at everyones websites starting in the next couple weeks to make sure that you have this number listed.  If you are already a Safe Sport Certified team, continue to keep your information updated.  And Thank You for getting Certified!!

If you have certain Safe Sport Reps that you would like me to also include in these emails, please let me know.

My goal for the new year is to have all our MT Clubs Certifed Safe Sport, so please either get started, or continue to work on getting there.  I know it is time consuming, but it really isn't hard.  Let me know if you ever have questions.  If I don't know the answer, I will find it!

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  I look forward to assisting you and as always, KEEPING OUR ATHLETES SAFE.
