2022 Canadian Swimming Trials

2022 Canadian Swimming Trials

Over the past week, we had three Otter swimmers compete at the 2022 Canadian Swimming Trials in Victoria, BC. This was the first time that Natascha Borromeo, Adam Josza, and Onur Gul had ever competed at Trials.

Onur competed in the 50 Back, Adam in the 50 Breast, 100 Breast, and 200 Breast, and Natascha in the 50 Back, 100 Back, and 200 Back.

Adam Josza raced well in the 200 Breast during prelims and would have earned himself a Club Record. Unfortunately, he was disqualifed because of moving on the block.

Natascha Borromeo raced in the 100 Back on the first day of the competition. Alas, she went underwater past the 15m mark on the start and was disqualified. The time would have earned her a spot in the Junior final had it counted. Her redemption came the next day in the 50 Back. She raced well in the morning and got into the Senior A final. After a blistering 29.40, Natascha earned a 5th place finish. This means that she is the 5th fastest Canadian women for that race. Natascha is ranked 1st in Canada for 15 year old girls in the 50 Back.

We are very proud of the accomplishments of these three young swimmers and are looking forward to seeing more fast swimming from them!
