A Note from the Coach:

Looking ahead toward the team Award Ceremony (and due to the numerous questions asked by the swimmers), we thought we would take a moment to explain the awards our team gives, and how we determine who earns those awards:
  • I.M.Ready: We recognize this achievement for all Blue and Bronze swimmers who have participated in the requisite events for their age groups. The event requirements can be found here. The purpose of this award is to encourage and reward those swimmers who push themselves to swim longer distances in all of the strokes, rather than just sticking to their "favorite" events. Because this is also an award from USA Swimming, all races must be swum at USA Swimming sanctioned meets.
  • I.M.Xtreme: Similar to I.M.R., but more challenging. We recognize this achievement for all Silver, Gold, and Platinum swimmers who have participated in the requisite events for their age groups. The event requirements can be found here
  • Most Improved: USA Swimming assigns "Power Points" to each swimmer's race, based on how their time compares to other swimmers of the same age/gender throughout the country. To determine who qualifies as Most Improved, we compare each swimmer's Power Point totals from the previous year (2020-2021) to the current year (2021-2022), based on their fastest times in each event. The swimmer from each age group with the highest point total improvement wins! The idea is to swim a variety of events and always try to improve your times. Read more and calculate points here. Power Points are awarded by USA Swimming, so once again, all races must be swum at USA Swimming sanctioned meets.
  • Motivational Time Standards are set by USA Swimming for each Quad (between Olympic years). We award swimmers for the highest standard they have achieved across all events, at any meet. See motivational standards here
  • High Point Winner: The top male and female Power Point earners of the year are named our High Point Winners. They are excluded from earning the Most Improved Awards. With rare exceptions, these are our highest achieving athletes of the year.
