CRPD Updates: Scratches, Parking, COVID-19 & swimmer drop off

Hi Marlin Families!

We hope you're doing well and enjoying the season so far. The coaches are having a great time with your kiddos and we're looking forward to the next few weeks. We have some important updates to share. Please make sure to read in its entirety and let us know if you have any questions.

1. Scratches:  At Monday's meeting Coach Matt, the Board and I discussed our procedures for scratches at meets. We have made the decision that we will scratch all swimmers who are not present at check in and will not add them back in if they arrive late. There is the potential to swim in an exhibition race, if space is available throughout the day. The reasoning behind this is it greatly delays the meet when coaches are having to manage scratches instead of starting races. We were 45 minutes late starting on Saturday, which caused us to have an extremely long meet. Please be aware that this is the decision we came up with as a team and it will be enforced at all meets. Check in for 13+ is at 6:45, and at 7 for swimmers 12 and under; we recommend all swimmers arrive by 6:45 a.m., anyone who attempts to check in after 7 a.m. will be scratched.

2. Meet Parking:  We recommend all meet families park INSIDE the Hagan Community Park and walk up to the pool from the back entry. We have been approved to allow all meet participants to park for free during meet times inside Hagan Community Park. Just let the kiosk attendant know you are here for the swim meet. You're welcome to come and go just let the staff know you're with the swim meet, they will be instructed to waive the fee for the day.

3. COVID-19:  Our Human Resources Department has provided us guidelines for summer participants. Please review the document and do not send your swimmers to swim practice if they are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.  You can review the document here.

4. Swimmer Drop Off:  Please do not send your children under 12 to practice without walking them in. Swimmers under 11 and under are required to be with a grownup while at the Cordova Community Pool. We understand it may be inconvenient, especially with parking, but for your child's safety, they need to be accompanied by a grownup.

That's all the updates we have for you at this time. Keep checking the Marlin Messenger for the most up to date information from the Board. Thank you for choosing the Blue Marlins for your summer swim team!

Thank you,
