This past May and June, USA Swimming's Zone Select Camps of 2022 took place at four zone-specific locations which provided in-water workouts and a number of classroom sessions covering various topics. The goal of the annual program is to provide ignition, motivation and information for athletes to continue to set goals, work hard, excel in swimming and feel empowered to take ownership of their swimming careers.
SPY's Jarrett Payne was
selected and invited to attend of the Central ZONE Select Camp
held May 19-22 at the University of Cincinnati. He was one of 59
swimmers at the Central ZONE Select Camp. Selection was compiled automatically through
USA Swimming’s SWIMS database, and the fastest two available
athletes in each zone per event and gender were invited to
participate. Scoring was based on the 2021 long course season
combined IMX points. Jarrett and other Camp swimmers
of these four camps represented over 296 swim clubs. It is awesome
for Jarrett to represent our SPY Team as well as our Ohio Swimming
Community,
Fun Fact is that 33 current USA Swimming
National Team athletes are alumni of these ZONE
Select camps.
The four camps were held across the country:
- Central Zone Select Camp (University of Cincinnati) May 19-22, 2022
- Southern Zone Select Camp (University of Louisville) May 26-29, 2022
- Western Zone Select Camp (San Diego State University) May 26-29, 2022
- Eastern Zone Select Camp (University of Maryland, College Park) June 16-19, 2022
