Junior Olympics

CAST had a phenomenal team finale at the Inland Empire Junior Olympics in Pasco, WA last weekend. 54 of our athletes competed against 420 other swimmers from around the region, and the Crocs placed third out of the fifteen attending clubs. Our women placed second overall with the men taking fifth. We had a terrific percentage of best times and the kids did an amazing job getting up and racing their competition, particularly in finals!

Headlining our meet is Trace Bennett, who finished off his 10 and under career by once again dominating the competition, garnering 6 firsts and one second place to win high point for his age group. Our other individual event champions were Michaela Richards, who garnered a whopping 5 first places for the 8 and under girls; Bostyn Shoemaker, who notched 3 wins for the 11-12 girls; Owen Bennett, who won one event for the 13-14 boys;  and Adeline Downing, who won one event for the 9-10 girls. Our other top-3 individual event finishers were Everly Desancic, Erin Griffith, Rachel Nicholls, Demi Blaylock, Eli Shaw, Eleanor Strow, and Trista Slife.

CAST set a pair of team relay records, with Everly Desancic, Bostyn Shoemaker, Maggie Sobek, and Macey Yancey besting the 11-12 girls 200 medley relay record, while Sylvia Strow, Tillie Sobek, Erin Griffith, and Camryn Schmidt beat the 13-14 girls 200 free relay record. Several swimmers notched top-10 performer times, with Elijah Brown getting his name on the list for the first time with his superb finals swim in the 200 breast, and Rachel Nicholls doing likewise to snag 9th place in the 1500 free and got under 20:00 for the first time. Trista Slife nabbed the 7th spot in the 100 breast and is also now eighth in the 200 breast. Finally, Demi Blaylock crushed her 200 breast in finals to snag a long-sought after Senior Zones time and grabbed 8th on the performer list!

Thanks to all our competitors for a fun, fast weekend in the sun!
