Flagstaff Swimmers Dominates Long Course Swim Season
From our Age Group State Swimmers:
Victoria Core (13) now holds three 13/14 Arizona Age Group State Champion Titles in the 800m free (9:35.70 time improvement of -25.44 sec), 1500m free (18:04.60 time improvement of -49.98 sec) and 400IM (5:19.59 time improvement of -11.32 sec). She followed up with the 400m free Silver Medal (4:38.28 time improvement of -7.62 sec), 200m butterfly 4th and 100m butterfly 7th. Victoria was awarded the 1st Place 13/14 age group High Point winner with a total of 104 points . In addition, Victoria earned four Speedo Sectionals time cuts this season with three earned at the state meet. Victoria will be representing the State of Arizona at the Age Group Western Zone Championship Meet in Elk Grove, CA at the beginning of August.
Kendall Gross (10) 9/10 Arizona Age Group State Champion 100m backstroke (1:21.82 time improvement of -2.85) and an Age Group Zone cut. 50m backstroke Bronze Medal (37.90 time improvement of -1.57). This was Kendall's first State meet where she qualified for all six events and made top 8 finals in all her races. 400m free 4th, 100 free 8th, 50 free 4th and 200 free 7th. Kendall achieved best times in every event she swam. Kendall will continue her championship season at the 2022 Long Course Far Westerns in Concord, CA with an impressive 6 qualified times at the end of the month.
Abbie Miller (14) Major time drops in the 200m free Bronze Medal (2:14.44 time improvement -1.00 sec), 100m fly Silver Medal (1:06.57 time improvement -3.78), and 400M free 5th, 200 fly 8th, 100m backstroke 11th and 200IM 17th. Abbie will continue her championship season at the 2022 Long Course Far Westerns Championships with 5 events. This will be Abbie's last championship season as an age group swimmer.
Owen Worthington (13) the comeback kid coming off a major break in his arm, made it back to Arizona Age Group Long Course State Championships in Chandler, AZ with two races in the 100m back (1:13.08 time improvement of -1.37 sec) and 200m back . Owen made the consolation finals in both events.
From our Senior Swimmers:
Adam Vanluvanee (17) After an impressive swim at the Arizona Senior State Championships Adam headed to Oregon for the Speedo Sectionals meet, swimmers from all over the western states came and swam at this National level meet. Two stand out swims lead him to finals in the 200m fly (2:12.00) just off his best time of 210:24 and 100m fly (58:00) . Adam qualified in the 100 fly for Futures which is the next level of National meets.
Sam Prusacki (18) Our graduating senior wrapped up his Long Course Arizona Senior State Championships season with best times in the 200IM (2:31.72 time improvement of -1.33) and a 2:10.73 in the 100m Breastroke . Sam will be attending NAU this fall.
