2022 All Star Relays Recap

Dolphin Families:  What an exciting meet this morning.  We had 5 relays make it to All Star Relays by winning their relays at A Relays.  One team is represented from each of the Divisions A-G, we were representing our Division D.

The Mixed 15-18 Free Relay of Carly Sebring, Kaitlyn Hunter, Ben Jo and Drew Beabout, were seeded 4th, by time, before the race.  In a nail biting race, they placed second, 4 ONE HUNDREDTHS, behind the winners.  So close, but a great way to start.

The next event was the Girls Open Medley Relay of Carly Sebring, Kate Miller, Sadie Hebert and Kaitlyn Hunter who were seeded third.  They won their relay and BROKE THE TEAM RECORD, which they originally broke at the A Relays!

In our third event, the Mixed 15-18 Mixed Medley Relay of Carly Sebring, Ian Green, Ben Jo, and Kaitlyn Hunter, we were seeded first and came in first.  This was the relay we expected to win and they did not disappoint.

The fourth relay was the Girls 13-14 Medley Relay of Claire Beabout, Taya Ivanovskaya, Maddie Inman and substitution Sophia O’neil.  Evie Hunkeler was the anchor at A Relays but could not swim at All Stars, so Sophia graciously stepped up, practiced for 2 weeks, and crushed the anchor position.  The relay was seeded 5th, our lowest seed, and came in 3rd, lowering their seed time, with Sophia having a personal best time by over one second!

Finally, we were in the last relay, the Girls 250 Crescendo Relay. one swimmer from each age group.  Layla Price (8), Laney Derrenbacher (12), Carly Sebring (17), Maddie Inman (13), and Evelyn Fitch (10), were seeded 3rd prior to the race.  This relay dropped 4.35 seconds this morning and placed 1st!  So Proud!

So, for my final All Star Relays, we took home 3 first places, one second and one third.  My best results since returning to the Dolphins.  I was so proud of our swimmers and their effort.  Tomorrow is Individual All Stars and I am excited for what is to come!

Shout out to Sophia Iorio for coming to the meet this morning with no skin in the game, just to cheer on her friends and teammates, l loved it!
