Divisionals Press release
February 17th-19 the Spartan Swim Club sent 15 athletes to compete at the BC Winter Divisionals in Surrey. Swimmers at this meet were competing in heats and finals and racing to obtain their BC Provincial qualifying times.
Morgan Sparkes led the Spartans in the 15 and over boys division with four Gold medals! He won the 200m Free, 400m Free, 400IM and 1500m Free. He was also seventh in the 200m IM
In the 12 and under boys age group Tommy Chirico won Gold in the 200m Fly, Silver in the 400m IM and fifth in both the 50m Fly and 200m IM. Body Saunders won the 400m Free, he was second in the 100m Fly, third in the 100m Back and 100m Free. Brody also placed fourth in the 50m Back, 50m Fly, fifth in the 50m Free and sixth in the 200m Free. JiKai Li was second in the 200m Fly and eighth in the 200m Back. Troy Rexha placed third in both the 100m Fly and 400m IM and was seventh in the 100m Back and 200m IM. Evan Weatherhead splashed his way to a Gold medal in the 1500m Free
12 and under Spartan Girls saw Mae Engar swim her way to Bronze in the 100m Back and fourth in the 50m Back, 50m Breast, 50m Fly, 100m Fly, followed by sixth in the 100m Free.
13-14 year old boys were lead by Bobby Hasell placing second in the 50m Back, third in the 100m Back, fourth in the 200m IM, fifth in the 400m IM and 400m Free and sixth in the 1500m Free. Isaac Janes pushed to third in the 50m Back and fifth in the 200m Back. Paolo Chirico finished eighth in the 400m Free.
In the 13-14 girls age group Amya Carlson took Gold in the 100m Back, Bronze in the 400m IM, fourth in the 50m Free, 100m Free and eighth in the 50m Back. Emery Engar won and Gold, Silver and Bronze in the 50m Breast, 200m Breast and 100m Breast. Emma Enns was fourth in the 200m Free, sixth in the 100m Free and seventh in the 50m Fly. Sophia MacNeil had a strong showing with three Gold medals in the 50m Free, 200m Free and 1500m Free, she was also Bronze in the 100m Free and eighth in the 200m IM
