Ten Medals for Spartan Swimmers at BC Winter Provincials!!
March 1st -5th six hundred of BC’s top swimmers came together in Victoria to compete a the 2023 BC Winter Provincials. The Spartan Swim Club had sent eighteen representatives form their team aging 12-17 years old.
Leading the way in the 12 and under boys age group was Eli Reist placing second in the 100m Back, fourth in the 400m Free and 200m Breast, fifth in the 200m IM and 100m Breast, sixth in the 100m Free and 200m Free and he was eighth in the 100m Fly. Troy Rexha won himself a Bronze medal in the 200m Fly. The “Brodster” Brody Saunders finished fourth in the 200m Fly, fifth in the 800m Free and seventh in both the 100m Fly and 100m Back.
13- 14 year old Boys saw Lucas Van Herk winning the Gold in the 200m Free, placing fifth in the 100m Breast and seventh in the 200m IM.
In the 15-16 year old Girls division Calli Saunders was Silver in both the 800m Free and 200m Back, followed by a Bronze in the 1500m Free. Calli also place fourth in the 100m Back, fifth in the 400m Free and 200m IM and she was seventh in the 100m Free and 200m Free. Bronwen Wheeler finished with fourth in the 200m Fly and 400m IM, plus fifth in the 1500m Free and seventh in the 400m and 800m Free. Myriam Hickey pushed to a fourth in the 100m Free and a fifth in the 100m Fly.
Erik Rexha in the 15-16 year old Boys category found his way to an eighth place finish in the 100m Butterfly
Brooklyn Pickford Raced against the 17 and over Girls and finished with two Silver Medals in the 50m and 200m Breaststroke and added a Bronze in the 100m Breaststroke.
In the Boys 17 and Over Morgan Sparkes splashed to a fourth in the 1500m Free and fifth in the 800m free. Niall Johnson swam to a fourth place finish in the 100m Freestyle.
Spartan Girls 4 x 200m Free relay consisting of Myriam Hickey, Violette Freimark, Bronwen Wheeler and Calli Saunders fished the meet with a Bronze medal. The Boys 4 x 200m Free relay made up of Niall Johnson, Erik Rexha, Lucas Gafka and Morgan Sparkes place fourth.
