Swimmers from the Spartan Swim Club traveled down to California for Far Western Championships over the course of 4 days July 27-30. Throughout the weekend athletes achieved new personal bests and raced other teams from across the United States. Below are some highlights from Spartan athletes.
Leading the way in the points department was 15-year-old Calli Saunders. She placed third in the 400IM, first in the 100m and 200m back, third in the 400m free and second in the 800m free racking up a total of 53 points! Calli was also a part of the 200m medley relay and the 200m free relay.
Close behind was Bronwen Wheeler also in the 15 and over category with a total of 30 points! Bronwen completed many swims throughout the weekend, placing third in the 200m butterfly and second in the 1500m free. She also had many other second swims and accompanied her teammates in the 200m medley relay, 400m free relay and the 200m free relay.
Myriam Hickey placed top 9 for two individual events the 100m butterfly and 50m free ending with a total of 4 points.
Bobby Hasell led the way for the 13-14 boys placing 16th in the 200m backstroke.
