December Swimming News

 December News

Dear RUSH Swimmers and Parents,

Happy Holidays!

December has already kicked off with a "bang" with many swimmers watching the stars of our sport at the USA/ATT Nationals swim meet last week at UT.  And a couple of them even got to meet the BEST in our sport up close, pics attached.

Shortly after last weekends swim meet I received an email from a swimmer asking if he could come swim with us for a week.  He has swam the last 3 nights in a row and has been a HUGE inspiration for all the swimmers and coaches.  His name is Andy Gant and he is an ex swimmer from Stanford University and still holds many school records there today.  He has also been on the Pan American USA teams and went to the 2004 and 2008 Olympic trials.  His wife, ironically, is Dana Vollmer who set a World Record in and won Olympic Gold in 100 Fly this past year in London.  She has a very interesting swimming story and is a Texan too!  The first being that she participated in her first Olympic trials at age 12, just amazing! You can see more about Dana Vollmer here http://www.danavollmer.com/#!about

It has been an awesome week and we just want to say thank to Andy for all your help this week and searching out our team on the web.  The RUSH swimmers have enjoyed your stories about swimming, technique advice, and your under waters! :) we look forward to a few more practices with Andy this week and look forward to having him and his wife when they visit Austin again.

We are looking forward to this months swimming, and with FANTASTIC weather I might add, at UT's Jingle Bell Meet, Westwood Winter Best Times, and the Holiday break practices.

Have a wonderful holiday and thanks again for supporting RUSH, SWIM FAST!!!
