Pioneer Power Sprint 2013

This years Pioneer Power sprint saw much cooler temperatures than in years past. A balmy (yet humid according to my very foggy sunglasses) Denton morning saw 360+ triathletes line up at TWU's outdoor pool to compete in a 300 yd swim, 16 mile bike, and 5k run benefitting the TWU Womens Soccer team.

DASC had a great showing with 7 athletes toeing the line, and 3 taking home age group and an overall masters title! Go team!!

Here's the short list:

  • Julie Sheridan - 2nd female overall, 1st AG, 1st overall female masters
  • Judy Bruns - 4th AG
  • Angie Manglaris - 5th female overall, 1st AG
  • Greg Johnson - 12th 6th AG!
  • Clay Pickering - 14th AG
  • Jose Grimraldo - 15th AG
  • Me - 5th 8th overall, 1st AG

I even saw Christina Rial (who just finished the 2k /5k swim last night) run the 5k! Go Christina!

I would also like to shout out to Robert Arruda who competed in the Tri-Waco Olympic triathlon this morning. I'm still waiting to hear from Rob, but from the results it looks as though he nailed 2nd in his AG. Great job, Rob!!

Everyone seemed to have a really good time. It's so much fun to see you all out there pushing yourselves. I'm so very proud of all our athletes that competed this weekend. Fantastic Job!!

See you all on Monday!

Note - Sorry for the mistake on placings for Greg and I. That's what you get after a day of racing!
