When the University of North Florida Aquatic Center closed to the public on December 14, Jacksonville lost a valuable resource that has served the city in multiple ways since 1987 and several organizations that use the pool on a regular basis will be forced to find new homes.
One of those organizations is North Florida Swimming (NFS), a year-round swim team with approximately 275 team members, primarily ranging in age from 5-18. After many months of examining available resources, NFS has partnered with The Inman Company, a Jacksonville financial advisory firm, to raise funds to build a new Indoor Swimming Complex that will serve the community and provide swimmers of all ages and abilities a safe place to swim, with a strong emphasis on teaching and age-appropriate training.
This new privately-owned, indoor facility will be located in the Jacksonville Southside/Intracoastal west area. Plans for the building include a 50 meter competition pool and smaller, 25 yard teaching pool. In addition to a permanent training home to North Florida Swimming, the facility will offer:
-
Swim lessons
-
Masters and Triathlon training
-
Water Safety Classes
-
Senior Citizen fitness/rehab
-
Special Olympic Training/Events
-
Lane rentals for schools and other swim clubs
Funding for this project has begun and will be procured through:
-
Tax deductible donations to NFS (a not for profit organization).
-
Naming Rights/Title Sponsorship
-
Secondary sponsorships
-
Investment opportunities
-
Memberships
-
Rental Agreements
-
Bank Loans
