It was a wet, rainy, blustery...typhoony weekend in Vallejo. Thank goodness we are ducks.
More than a couple of our ducks were found shoeless or clothes-free with the following reasons:
"I didn't take my towel to the blocks, because I didn't want it to get wet!" (We should really discuss the sole purpose of the towel at this point...)
"My sandals give me blisters, so I'm better barefoot" (I could come up with ten reasons why this one is wrong!)
"I don't need shoes or a jacket because its warm in my tent!" (quoted outside the tent...)
"If I put on my parka, it'll get wet!" (....and you might stay warm, right?)
Swimmers, the coaches were working really hard to keep you covered...and so were your parents. You might not want to hear this, but your parents are pretty doggone smart and can help you out a lot on days like today. When you next go to a rainy day meet, try to remember the following:
Everything, and I do mean everything, will get wet.
Bring lots of dry towels, socks, jackets, hats to keep you warm
Stay out of the weather as much as possible
Bring sandals for going to the blocks....but bring boots for all other times
Listen to mom, dad, and your coach. They are all there to help you.
You were all amazing this weekend. We were very proud of you!
